Peckforton Castle Cheshire Wedding Photography – Sophie and Alex

Winter Wedding Photography in Cheshire

We don’t actually get many weddings with snow. I don’t think it’s global warming, just that January and February tend to be the coldest months, and are also fairly quiet in terms of weddings. However, Peckforton Castle is on top of its own little hill, sticking out of the Cheshire plain, so there was still some of the slight sprinkling of snow left from December’s little flurry when we got there for Sophie & Alex’s wedding.

As this was a Fusion package, we produce a video on the day incorporating still images combined with film from the wedding ceremony. You can pick whatever music you like for the film, but I have re-edited this one with some copyright-free music to allow sharing online:

Peckforton Castle Wedding Venue

Peckforton has some lovely rooms and it’s a great place for brides and bridesmaids to get ready. With the fusion package we cover the wedding as a team of 2 photographers, so Sarah was with the girls while Stuart took the drone shots, captured some of the scenery, and caught some shots of the guys as the guests began to arrive.

Getting hitched in the Great Hall

The Great Hall is a breathtaking location for a marriage ceremony. Stained-glass windows and the magnificent vaulted ceiling make this a dream setting. Sophie’s entrance through the original main door of the castle was unforgettable.

Wedding Photography at Peckforton Castle

Peckforton Castle is paradise for wedding photography. Inside there’s a huge selection of locations for group and portrait photographs. But if the weather’s ok, there’s even more options ouside. After some group photographs in the courtyard we took Sophie and Alex to the woods just oustde the castle gate. We had a gorgious winter sunset creating lovely warm lighting, as you can see. We try to keep our wedding photography as natural as possible. Posing is kept to a minimum, which many of our couples find a great relief!

Wedding Breakfast in the Drawing Room

Peckforton Castle has a selection of rooms of various sizes that can be used at different parts of the day. The Great Hall is typically used for the marriage ceremony and evening reception. There’s a separate bar area where people can mingle in-between the main events, and the Drawing Room is usually used for the wedding breakfast.
