Best Wedding Venues on the Wirral

Wedding at Inglewood Manor Wedding Venue Wirral

Recommended Wirral Wedding Venues

As a Wirral Wedding photographer, I often get asked which are the best wedding venues in the area. Of course, it very much depends on your individual needs, but I’ve picked four of my favourites here.

Mere Brook House

Mere Brook is a great venue for family events as well as weddings. My parents had their golden wedding anniversary there a couple of years ago, and we’ve had several friends and family weddings there over the years. The house and adjacent couch house have been renovated to a very high standard, and the homemade locally sourced food is undoubtedly one of their strong points.

They can cater for up to 60 people for formal meals, or 100 for BBQs. The main dining room contains a single huge dining table which is great especially for smaller weddings where everyone can sit at the same table.

There are 8 bedrooms between the main house and couch house, and it’s only a five minute drive from Thornton Hall Hotel, if you need more space for guests.

I really have to mention the delicious home made cakes and biscuits. The food and the decor give Mere Brook a lovely home from home feel. If that appeals to you, you appreciate good homemade food, and especially if you’re planning a smaller wedding, you should really have a look at this place, I think you’ll love it.

The Little Fox

I like to think of The Little Fox as being the Tardis of wedding venues. It’s at the side of The Red Fox pub in Thornton Hough, which is arguably the best pub on the Wirral. If you were going to the pub you could be forgiven for not noticing The Little Fox at the side, but it’s actually much larger on the inside than you would imagine.

The venue is split into 2 parts, at the front is a large area very much in a similar style to the pub next door, with lots of comfortable seating areas. This is where you and your guests will relax during the less formal parts of the day. The second part of the venue is the ceremony room which is also quite large and opens out to a pretty garden area. This room is where marriage ceremonies take place, and also there the reception meal is served and there the dance floor will be situated later on. The two rooms are divided by a movable partition, so the whole space becomes one for the evening party.

So who should consider getting married at The Little Fox. I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys a nice countryside pub atmosphere, and weddings with around 40-90 guests. The food is excellent, and if you want to try it out I would definitely recommend going to the Red Fox next door and giving it a try.

Leasowe Castle

There aren’t so many wedding venues at the north end of the Wirral, so Leasowe Castle really stands out an is very popular. We’ve filmed and photographed many weddings there over the years, including several for our own family.

Leasowe Castle dates back to 1593, when it was built by Ferdinand, the 5th Earl of Derby, and named “New Hall”. It has grown over the years and is now a sizeable hotel, well suited for wedding celebrations.

The hotel is situated next to Leasowe Beech and stunning views across Liverpool Bay make for a great setting for wedding photographs.

Inside the hotel offers a variety of function rooms that can cater for a wide range of weddings, from very small, to really large! I really like the Keep Suite, which makes a lovely airy well lit space for your wedding ceremony.

Inglewood Manor

Since we began our wedding photography journey in 2007, Inglewood Manor has always been one of the best and most popular wedding venues on the Wirral. A few years ago the hotel was taken over by the very professional team that also run Peckforton Castle and Nunsmere Hall, two of our favourite wedding venues in Cheshire.

Inglewood Manor is surrounded by 38 acres of beautiful grounds, making it one of the best places to get married if you like the idea of relaxing outside with your friends and family. Outdoor ceremonies are a great option here, and the grounds make a great backdrop for your wedding photographs.

Inside there is a very grand staircase that we can use for group shots if the weather isn’t so nice, and there’s a choice between The Burton (a more modern open plan space) and the Executive Suite, if you’d prefer something more traditional.
